Welcome to Our Innovative Religious School

Dear Haverim,

Welcome to University Synagogue’s Religious School!   We are delighted that you have decided to join us on a wonderful journey through your child’s Religious School education.  We provide the unique opportunity for our students to learn about their Jewish heritage, explore and expand their Judaic knowledge, and strengthen their Jewish identity.

Our programs are innovative and exciting.  They include options for both traditional Religious School and a unique new program we call An Adventure in Jewish Education.

Through the study of Jewish culture, history and current events, our children learn to appreciate our people, to develop a sense of personal and communal responsibility, and to realize the relevance of Jewish learning to their daily lives. Hebrew is taught for the study of Torah and prayer, as well as the modern living language of our people.

Our experiential curriculum is enhanced through the use of music, drama, science, storytelling, art and dance. We encourage children to question, debate and discuss and the Rabbi and Cantor are actively involved in our programming at every level. Parental involvement is welcome and encouraged within the classroom setting, through Family Education, and by attending Family Services.

I invite you to meet with me to discuss our unique Religious School programming options.  We will customize your child’s Religious School education, taking his or her personal needs and talents into account. My door is always open and I look forward to meeting you.

B’shalom,

Sue Penn

Director of Education
